splak!! and down came the mosquito that i just killed. i really have to do something with these nasty biters.its been months since i was looking for that post from my high school teacher on facebook but i just couldnt find it.so i went to youtube and found a really good video on how to do a homemade diy mosquito trap..(yay!)
so...i decided to make one myself. if you want to make this at home too, i took pictures while working on it.i'll also post a video about it on youtube for you to watch. :) now, let's get started!
the things that you'll need are:
a plastic bottle-i've already cut mine in the middle
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tbsp. dry yeast
scissors
tape
pan or container to heat up the brown sugar and water on the electric stove
mix together brown sugar and water in a container and stir for at least 5 minutes in medium or high heat. you're making a syrup out of the mixture. allow it to boil and let it cool.
once it's totally cooled, pour the syrup mixture on the water bottle-the bottom part of it.
next add the dry yeast on the syrup mixture.do not stir the yeast.just allow it to set on top of the mixture.
i'm just giving you a preview of how the mixture will be with the dry yeast on top.
assemble the bottom part and the other half with the top part turned upside down. secure this with a tape.i only found an electrical tape here so that's what i've used. :)
and it's done! we have our own mosquito trap. i'll put it outside of the house and see if it will work.i'll wait for a couple of weeks and will update you. for now, i'll keep my fingers crossed. :) if you want to see a video on this, please tune in on my youtube channel. :) thanks and happy making!
