I have to warn you, these are not the best accommodations. You need to go further to the city when you want to reach the two other venues. But if you're going to Iligan City or want to catch your flight in Laguindingan International airport early in the morning, you can save your travel money in these rooms.
1. Seda Hotel
The Details: This posh hotel sits next to its popular mall, Centrio at Corrales Avenue. You may think they got super high rates for a room but they actually have competitive rates. For a single room for two, we had a reservation of at least P3,000. Not bad for a weekend getaway. That was their weekend promo. The reservation included a buffet breakfast, a swim at the pool, a day at the gym and of course, a good sound sleep at their minimalist room. We also got movie tickets at Centrio. What I love about my stay was that it was all good in just one place. We had great breakfast. We had a stroll at the mall during the day and watched a movie in the afternoon and we didn't have to go so far because we had everything we need. We didn't have to get a ride to go somewhere else.
If you want convenience in one place, you can choose to check in here.
Tips for reservations: Look for promotions at their website. Reserve a room during off-season dates. You may get higher rates during the holidays so I suggest plan your stay when it's not the merry season.
How to get there: You can ride a taxi from the airport or pier. It may cost you around P350 more or less. If you're riding a bus from Davao City or Bukidnon, you can just ride a motorela from the terminal which may cost around P10.
2. Country Village Hotel
The Details: We had our weekend swimming here. What's nice about this place is you can leave all your bags in the room and enjoy swimming with the kids. The place is located in Barangay Carmen which is a little bit far from the city proper. If you just want to relax from all the traffic jam and work stress, you can stay here overnight.
Tips for reservation: Inquiry is key here, my friend. Their flyers state that their room rates start at around P2,000 or more but if you inquire if they have an available room at less than P1,000, their friendly staff can actually give you that. Expect to have no free breakfast though. You can order from the restaurant or go to a nearby fastfood. They also have smaller beds compared to other hotels.
How to get there: You can choose all the available public vehicles because this hotel is accessible about 15 minutes from the city proper maybe about an hour from the airport.
3. Middleton Apartelle
The Details: We celebrated Baby Mico's first birthday here! :) What I love about this place is that you can have your own private little party and they won't mind - as long as you keep it subtle of course. Just keep the music down low so the neighboring rooms won't be disturbed.
The room was worth it. They have a parking space for one car. They have a tiny receiving area, a tiny dining area and a tiny cooking space. So, no big expectations here. Did I mention they have a teenie weenie ref too? But all our food surprisingly fit in there.
They have two rooms upstairs, only one room has toilet and bath and TV. The other guests can use the toilet room near the dining area. We had a reservation of P3,000+ for the apartelle room for 8 adults and two kids. There were at least 20 people who came as birthday guests. We added P100+ for extra beds.
Tips for reservation:
1. Reserve the room at least a day before because they might give the room to other guests. They're usually jam-packed during weekends.
2. Don't mention the number of people who will stay for the night. hehehe :) They don't mind really but it's better not to tell ;) For an apartelle, you will have 4 persons with free swimming coupons; more than that they will charge P100 each.
3. If you'll be having a party, make sure you set aside their utensils because they charge outstanding penalties on unreturned utensils. You can ask for an electric stove if you need to cook. They provide a thermomug with hot water rather than a heater.
4. They charge a rental fee of P200 for the TV remote control.
5. Don't bring any appliances like rice cooker or heater.
How to get there: This place is a little bit unknown even if they have huge tarpaulins and signages in nearby streets, it's a narrow road going in and the motorela drivers don't know much about this place, I don't really know why. I suggest you ride a taxi or if you have a private car with all your friends, the better. This is also located in Barangay Carmen near Country Village Hotel.
If you have any suggestions or want to ask me about the rooms please write at the comments box below. I'll try my best to answer.
Happy weekend!
